here you can read a few of the things i've written over the years.  you can click the titles to reveal more info on the projects.

dangerous days

i used to run a blog (and a column on several other blogs) called dangerous days where i reviewed movies, tv shows and the occasional video game. the blog was heavily focused on social and cultural issues and how subjects like race and sexuality were represented in popular culture. unfortunately, it got to the point where i felt like i was just ranting negatively all the time and that wasn't really my goal, so i let it go. another abandoned project. :(

midnight mass

midnight mass is an ongoing series of related stories set in san francisco in the year 2064.

synopsis:
San Francisco, 2064. The city is in a state of crisis, although the fact is commonly unknown to the general public. While industry is booming thanks to the newly relocated city center (dubbed the Patchworks), where many scientific research and technology corporations are located, there are areas that have been completely ignored by the boom. Drug-heavy districts like the Tenderloin and Old Town (formerly Civic Center) have been all but ignored by the police department and the mayor’s office “city enhancement” projects, becoming meccas for the down-and-out and the criminal underworld.
The Free Radicals are a rag-tag group of disenfranchised hackers led by Cece, a 40-something bar owner with a serious beef against Gladstone, the most powerful of the city’s tech companies. For months the group has been staging runs on the corporation’s networks, trying to crack their systems and expose the company’s shady dealings to the public with little success. What they do leak gets ignored, forgotten or lost in the sea of constant media saturation. When Cece’s estranged father, a Gladstone scientist, turns up dead in a grimey Tenderloin motel room, apparently the latest victim of the infamous serial killer “The Bar Crawler”, she is sure that Gladstone is behind it and has staged the murder - but why?

new world

new world is an original television series i started writing a few years back. it's a multi-character action-drama that tells the story of the first privately funded colony established on the surface of mars. similar in concept to kim stanley robinson's mars trilogy, but the story, characters, plot and tone all differ greatly in new world.

black planet

this is another script i wrote a few years back, but this one is more of a mini-series than an ongoing one. black planet is a zombie apocalypse story that follows a group of rag-tag survivors as they try to escape a quickly deteriorating san francisco. it also tells a parallel storyline of a separate group of survivors in the rural central valley of california. eventually the stories merge, but obviously i haven't gotten to that part yet.

lacaria

i've been working on this novel forever and at this point i don't think it will ever get finished. lacaria is just a working title, but it's a young-adult sci-fi novel that at first glance appears to be a fantasy story. i still haven't figured out a good way to sum up the story after all these years, so i'll just say that it's got magic, it's got science, it's got lost ancient history, it's got time travel, it's got strange creatures, it's got clockwork robots, it's got epic backstory and it's even got alien planets. random, yes...but i swear it all fits together somehow.
